Legal Secretary – Commercial Litigation

Link Personnel have been instructed by our client, a Top Tier Law Firm, on a Commercial Litigation Legal Secretary vacancy.  Supporting 2 Partners, this will suit a candidate with 3 years’ experience in a Commercial Litigation department. The Role:

  • Produce quality work fast and efficiently.
  • Document Management System (Keyhouse) – open new files and maintain existing files.
  • Prepare booklets for court for counsel and for experts.
  • Draft court documents.
  • Prepare and draft bills of costs for clients, narratives, capture outlay, following up with 3rd parties for their invoices – counsel, expert witnesses, etc.
  • Draft and redraft documentation using advanced features of Microsoft Word 365.
  • Deal with partners and solicitors on a proactive basis- communicating any problems which may arise and suggesting solutions to overcome them where suitable.
  • Manage & organise partners & solicitors with all aspects of their diaries.
  • Take telephone messages and manage client relationships.
  • Filing & general administrative support, to include archiving.
  • Risk Management – comply with all of the Firm’s policies & procedures; support Firm-wide risk management initiatives. Adhere to the file review and closure process and ensure all open and in-active matters are reviewed and closed as appropriate.

The Candidate:

  • Good standard of Leaving Certificate, with a recognised secretarial course. Strong keyboard skills, with typing skills a minimum of 65 +wpm
  • Minimum of 3 years legal secretarial experience in the commercial litigation practice area of a law firm.
  • Fast accurate Digital Dictation, with experience in Bighand an advantage.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Professional manner and approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a busy team.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail & excellent organisational skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality internally and externally.
  • Flexible attitude
  • Contribute to the business objectives and liaise with other teams within the firm as required.
