Our Client, a high regarded Law Firm in Dublin 2, have instructed Link Personnel Services on a vacancy for a Legal Bookkeeper. The Role:

Account Management.

  •  Generating reports and overseeing action needed to be taken on same.
  • Monthly reconciliations.
  • Year End Accounts and assisting with the year-end financial close including some liaising with external auditors.
  • Daily banking and dealing with banks re opening and closing of accounts, charges and other banking matters which arise.
  • Processing and part authorising EFTs.
  • Authorising payments of application fees in the where required.

Billing and Invoices

  • Making sure that matters are billed correctly – Check documents going out / Monitor procedures re issue of fee notes, invoices, cash accounts (to be checked by accounts person first) / double check other balances due for client / checking that usual outlays are included.
  • Maintaining register of fee notes issued but not discharged – monitoring and chasing same with fee earners.
  • Statutory Compliance – Ensuring the accounts are maintained and operated in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations – Client Account balances – AML records – Records of S.150/S.68 letters – review meetings re same.

Office expenditure

  • Wages and Employees Tax
  • Dealing with personal payments/drawings for partners where requested.
  • Insurance – keeping records of policies – renewing office insurance (a partner will negotiate professional indemnity insurance).
  • Ordering office supplies including stationery, printer cartridges etc.
  • Revenue online – eStamping – VAT returns – ROS certificates.
  • All correspondence/emails to be saved/filed electronically into documents management system.
  • Office Policies and Procedures – being familiar with same and supervising adherence where it touches on accounts/registers.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks/projects that might arise.
  • Other Office administration tasks not dealt with by others.

The Candidate: 

  • Honest trustworthy person of impeccable character and integrity.
  • Good IT competency.
  • Good mathematical aptitude.
  • Disciplined filing and record organisation and maintenance.
  • MS Office proficiency to include MS Excel. (Familiarity with formulas, rounding errors, sorting, filtering.) and MS Outlook.
  • English language skills.
  • Experience of Accounts package(s) – preferably Legal Accounting package(s).
  • Experience of Online Banking and Revenue on line Service.
