Our Client, a Large Legal firm, requires an experienced candidate to join their HR team, with specific responsibility for Trainee, Intern and Work Experience programmes and participants.

This role reports to the HR Director and a Senior Partner

Salary: DOE

  • To take overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of all relevant programmes and the organisation and administration of the associated recruitment processes
  • Review the efficacy of programmes and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Work closely with Marketing on advertising, social netweorking and website administration to ensure the firm is well presented and represented to the target audience.
  • Liaise with 3rd level institutions, regarding CSR/sponsorship opportunities, careers fairs, internships and other activities with potential to increase the Firm’s profile and feed positively into Trainee recruitment.
  • Organise University Events, working closely with the team to ensure set up runs smoothly and marketing collateral is in place. Follow up after the event to analyse how it may be improved.
  • Design and implement appropriate recruitment and selection practices with particular emphasis on the annual high-volume recruitment rounds for Trainee and Summer Interns
  • Liaise with the Law Society and Institute of Tax on all Trainee-related matters and to complete and submit all the associated paperwork
  • Manage Trainee rotations and Intern assignments bearing in mind resource needs, individual preferences and Law Society/university requirements
  • Monitor Trainee performance, and give feedback on same.
  • To collaborate with Partners and the Learning & Development team to ensure that each Trainee’s development is maximised with an appropriate balance between their career aspirations and the Firm’s future talent requirements
  • To monitor market trends and make salary and benefits recommendations
  • To deliver HR induction to Trainees and Interns
  • To meet regularly with Trainees/the Trainee Committee and to deal with issues/provide support as appropriate
  • To liaise with the Facilities and IT teams in relation to logistics


  • 3rd level qualifications in HR or Law
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience preferably gained in a professional services environment; experience in a legal environment an advantage
  • Strong administration and organisational skills; ability to be self-supporting
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & Powerpoint); previous experience with databases and recruitment software systems an advantage
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks and use time well
  • An understanding of Social Media and its benefit in the recruiting process.
